Birding Trip to Cooter Pond

At 8 a.m. meet in the parking lot at 101 North Mill Ave., behind the Sheriff’s office in Inverness, for a 1.5 mile walk around Cooter Pond. The first section of the walk is on a boardwalk crossing the middle of Cooter Pond. The second section of the walk is on the paved Florida Trail. We will make a side trip to Henderson Lake before returning to the parking lot. Expect to see water birds in the pond and forest birds along the trail.

On the way home, we will stop by the Inverness Airport Wastewater Plant and scan the sewage ponds and spray fields. Expect to see water birds, grassland birds, and raptors.
