Bat Walk at the House of the Binns

Bats emit ultrasonic sounds that our human ears can’t, but whilst using bat detectors we can hear their chirps which often sound like smacks and clicks! Using different frequencies, we’ll attempt to identify which bat species are present and you can learn some fascinating bat facts along the way.

The walk is led by NTS rangers in the grounds of House of the Binns.

Please be aware...
🦇 Age 12 and up
🦇 Please bring a torch if you have one. This will need to be separate from the torch on your phone as mobile phones cause interference with the bat detectors signals.
🦇 Bring clothes layers in case of cold weather and waterproofs just in case.
🦇 This is weather dependent and will not go ahead if heavy rain or strong winds are forecast. If we must cancel we will contact you at least 2 hours before the advertised start time, so be sure to provide your email address and check your emails prior to travelling to House of the Binns.
