About this EventDetailed Description: Becoming a CPR & BLS Instructor
Becoming a CPR & BLS Instructor allows you to teach life-saving skills to healthcare providers, workplace employees, school staff, and the general public. As an instructor, you’ll be certified to teach a variety of American Heart Association (AHA) courses, empowering others to respond confidently in emergencies.
Classes You Can Teach as a CPR & BLS Instructor:
- BLS for Healthcare Providers – For nurses, doctors, EMTs, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Heartsaver CPR AED – For non-healthcare individuals such as teachers, coaches, and workplace staff.
- Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED – Covers first aid plus CPR/AED for all ages.
- Pediatric First Aid CPR AED – For childcare providers, daycare workers, and babysitters.
- Family & Friends CPR – A non-certification course for community members.
Instructor Role & Benefits:
- Lead hands-on classes and skills practice sessions.
- Certify students who successfully complete training.
- Offer both in-person and blended learning (online + skills session) courses.

Requirements to Become a CPR & BLS Instructor:
- Current AHA BLS Provider Certification (must be valid at time of instructor course).
- Completion of the AHA BLS Instructor Course through an authorized AHA Training Center.
- Alignment with an AHA Training Center to receive your instructor ID and support.
- Instructor Candidate Application (varies by Training Center).
- Successful Monitoring – Teach your first class while being evaluated by a Training Center Faculty member.
