Somatics and the Healing Power of Touch with Lisa Daugherty

We are 2 friends and colleagues, teaming up to bring our community an offering like no other. Through the lens and embodiment of somatics, trauma informed care and consensual touch, we will create an experience that recognizes our deep human need for connection.

Touch is powerful, and so is feeling seen and supported. For folks navigating trauma or social isolation, platonic touch can be deeply reparative; for touch stimulates the release of Oxytocin (a hormone that promotes feelings of well being and connection), helping us to reduce our stress and anxiety, be more aware of our own bodies, and cultivate a felt sense of safety. In this nurturing environment, through clear communication and consent, we will practice partner and group yoga poses, somatic techniques and platonic cuddle sessions.

This offering is for those who identify as women. Guest teacher Zelideh Martinez Hoy, M.S.Ed, Ph.D., is a 200 hour certified yoga instructor, yin yoga instructor and cuddle therapist.
