River’s Edge Brass Band and CSO Summer Brass Institute Announce “Brasstopia” Joint Concert
The River’s Edge Brass Band and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Summer Brass Institute are thrilled to present Brasstopia—a dynamic joint concert featuring outstanding brass ensembles. This exhilarating collaboration will take place on Thursday, June 5, 7:00 pm at Armstrong Chapel in Indian Hill. The event promises an unforgettable evening of bold sounds, virtuosic playing, and brass-driven excellence.
Held during the CSO Summer Brass Institute—a prestigious, full-scholarship program hosted at Miami University in partnership with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra—Brasstopia showcases the talents of the Institute’s 13 hand-selected fellows, professionals from around the country and around the world. These outstanding trumpet, horn, trombone, and tuba players will join forces with the River’s Edge Brass Band, known for its power, versatility, and passion for the genre.
“Brasstopia celebrates the spirit of collaboration and gives audiences the chance to hear the next generation of great brass players alongside seasoned professionals,” says River’s Edge Brass Band President Scott Seward
The program will feature an electrifying mix of classical and contemporary works arranged for large brass ensemble, with selections highlighting the rich tonal colors and thrilling sonorities of the combined forces. With repertoire curated to showcase both individual artistry and full ensemble brilliance, Brasstopia is more than a concert—it’s a celebration of brass culture at its highest level.
Kicking off the concert will be a performance by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Summer Brass Institute High School Scholars Program. All the musicians will gather for the final piece, Richard Strauss’ Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare.
This event is free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first served.
