Fireside Book Group: "Running with Sherman" by Christopher McDougall

Christopher McDougall's "Running with Sherman" tells the heartwarming story of how he adopted Sherman, a sickly, neglected rescue donkey in rural Pennsylvania. To rehabilitate Sherman, McDougall decides to train him for the World Championship Pack Burro Race in Colorado, a unique event where humans run alongside donkeys. The journey involves many challenges and the help of an eclectic group of characters, transforming Sherman from a near-death animal into a confident runner. Ultimately, the book is a testament to the healing power of purpose, movement, and the profound connection between humans and animals.
