This workshop is for anyone who is curious about the magic of oil paint and is looking to learn more about this medium. The class will demystify painting with oils by discussing the features and qualities of the medium and will include hands-on practice mixing and painting with oil colors. It will cover both beginner information and any topics that arise in the painting process. Both traditional oil paint and water-mixable oils will be covered; as well as supplies and best practices for using oils in your painting practice. Students may work on a still life or a subject of their own choosing. Some painting experience in any medium is preferred but not a requirement..
Supplies Needed:
– palette or palette paper
– a few brushes (small, medium, large)
– palette knife
– one 9×12 canvas pad or a few inexpensive canvas boards (8×10)
– oil paint any brand like Gamblin or Windsor Newton (mars or ivory black, ultramarine blue, cadmium red light, cadmium yellow or lemon yellow, titanium white)
