Sourdough Spirit!

Bring your two hands and sourdough spirit to the table and learn the essential steps to crafting a delicious, artisanal loaf of San Francisco style sourdough. I will show you how to mix flour, water and sourdough starter together to create a silky, fun-to-handle dough that rises slow. Come with a friend, partner or your wonderful self and learn how to make the dough come together with regular “folds” and how to cut and shape it into two fantastic bread loaves. Along the way I will offer stories and poems to get us into the bread-crafty spirit and invite your questions and comments as well. Be ready to get your hands in the dough (sometimes up to the elbows!) and join the grand history of sourdough bakers that stretches back to the ancient world. The aim is to let you walk away not only with two neatly bundled boules (think of little doughy bowling balls) to bake and eat, but also with some tricks and tools of the trade tucked under your belt.
