July Horse Hair Raku Workshop

Experience the Magic of Navajo Horsehair Raku with Sullivan Pottery
Join the Sullivan Pottery crew for a powerful, hands-on community firing event rooted in tradition and storytelling. You’ll learn about the Navajo Horsehair Raku technique, a sacred process historically used to honor a beloved horse or celebrate a new birth.

This stunning firing method involves laying horsehair onto red-hot pottery, creating ethereal, smoky linework that’s both spontaneous and deeply symbolic. The results are always unique — a reflection of fire, spirit, and connection.

No experience needed! Bring your own bisqued pieces, or choose from ready-to-fire forms we’ll provide. This is a welcoming, creative event for all skill levels.

Important: This is a live firing, so closed-toe shoes are required for safety. We recommend cotton clothing and jeans for comfort and protection.
