This exquisitely made supernatural gothic stars Deborah Kerr at her finest as Miss Giddens, an emotionally fragile governess who comes to suspect that there is something very, very wrong with her precocious new charges. Cowritten by Truman Capote and directed by Jack Clayton, The Innocents is the definitive adaptation of Henry James’s classic The Turn of the Screw. Set in Victorian England, Miss Giddens is hired to raise the children at the Miles estate. But soon after her arrival, she comes to believe that spirits are possessing the children.
