Daniel Craig, Derek Jacobi, & Tilda Swinton start in John Maybury’s unflinching portrait of British painter Francis Bacon. Featuring a score by the legendary Ryuichi Sakamoto, Love is the Devil brings the torrid psychosexual world of uncompromising British painter Francis Bacon to life in this unflinching portrait of the artist as a monster. Bacon (Jacobi) is at the height of his fame in the 1960s when would-be thief George Dyer (Craig) breaks into his studio. Thus begins a cruel, tumultuous love affair that plays out like a grim hallucination every bit as nightmarish as one of Bacon’s own canvases.
