A Very Special Standup/Sit Down: ‘Rob Bartlett: Can You Smell the Laughter?’ – An Evening Honoring the Comedy Legend’s Iconic Career
Join us for a hilarious and heartfelt evening at the Cinema Arts Centre as we celebrate the incredible 45-year career of comedy powerhouse Rob Bartlett—actor, writer, stand-up comic, and the man of a thousand characters. Hosted by filmmaker Steven Taub, this special tribute will feature rare and unforgettable clips, behind-the-scenes stories, and live tributes from the comedians and actors Rob has inspired along the way.
From his humble beginnings at Richard M. Dixon’s White House Inn, where he formed The Identical Triplets with comedy legends Bob Nelson and a young Eddie Murphy, to appearances on Letterman, Conan, The View, and The Today Show, Rob’s journey is a masterclass in wit, reinvention, and perseverance.
We’ll look back on his unforgettable three-decade run on Imus in the Morning, where his cast of outrageous characters became morning radio staples, and his star turns on The Great White Way alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Christina Applegate, Nathan Lane, and Huey Lewis. We won’t skip his famously doomed Broadway debut More to Love, but we’ll also spotlight his Drama Desk Award- Winning role Off -Broadway in Tabletop, as well as his Emmy Award-winning PBS special, his dramatic TV turns on SVU, Ugly Betty, The Good Wife, and Elementary, and his work on indie films like All in Time, Dr. Mantis: Insect Analyst, and A Slice of Cavett.
We'll revisit his online sketch comedy series The Ruthless Spectator, his Worldwide Comedy Award-winning Podcast, The Rob Bartlett Radio Comedy Hour, and yes—his infamous stint as one of the “Top Ten Worst Wrestling Commentators” during the launch of WWE's Monday Night Raw.
It’s an evening full of laughter, love, and the larger-than-life legacy of one of comedy’s true originals, so don’t miss this rare chance to honor a man who’s done it all—and made us laugh the whole way through.
