A hike in the Peak District walking along Derwent Edge and along side Derwent Reservoir, taking in views of Edale valley, Ladybower Reservoir, the moors and interesting rock formations.
The walk starts from the Fairholmes National Park car park, first following a steep path to Lockerbrook Farm then following the bridge-end pasture paths, before getting views over the Ladbybower Reservoir. We then descend down to Snake Road where we cross the bridge before starting the long ascent up to Derwent Edge.
We follow the rocky paths along Derwent Edge with views of the moors and Edale valley either side. Along the way we pass a number of rock formations such as the Wheel Stones and Salt Cellar. We stop for lunch just over half way around at White Tor.
Following lunch we continue on Derwent Edge before reaching the highest point on the walk; Back Tor (538m), where there is a trig point. We then start our down hill journey, following paths in the moors. We keep going down until we reach the Derwent Reservoir, we follow the paths around the reservoir until we reach the Derwent Dam before returning to the car park.
🅿️ Fairholmes car park, Ladybower, S33 0AQ (£7 all day) – meet in the green space opposite the café and toilets
- or other car parks nearby, but please allow enough time to walk to the meeting point

🐶 Dogs are welcome, but will need to be kept on a lead for parts of the walk
🍦 After the walk, we can grab an ice cream from the shop at Fairholmes
🥪 You will need to bring a packed lunch
