🚶♂️ Edale Endlesswalking Group Walk – 6th September 🚶♀️
We’ll be meeting bright and early at Edale Station ready to set off at 9:00am for a fantastic hike in the heart of the Peak District. This route is a 5.64-mile circular that takes in some of the most stunning scenery Edale has to offer, with plenty of fresh air, open moorland, and dramatic gritstone edges.
Route Overview:
• Distance: 5.64 miles
• Total Ascent: 1,491 ft
• Estimated Time: Around 3 hours 10 minutes (steady pace, excluding breaks)
• Start & Finish: Edale Station
We’ll head north from Edale, making our way up into the beautiful open landscape of Grindsbrook Clough, climbing towards the high point at Upper Tor (604m). From there, we’ll traverse along the moor with spectacular views across the Hope Valley and Kinder Plateau. The route then loops around via Golden Clough before dropping back down into the village, where we can grab a well-earned drink or bite to eat at the local pub or café.
Elevation:
Expect a steady climb early on, gaining height over the first couple of miles until we reach just under 2,000 ft, followed by a ridge walk and a gentle descent back to Edale.
What to Bring:
• Sturdy walking boots (the terrain can be rocky and boggy in places)
• Waterproofs (Peak District weather can be unpredictable)
• Snacks and water
• Optional: walking poles for the ascent/descent
This is a moderate walk with some steep sections, but nothing too technical – perfect for anyone comfortable with a bit of uphill and a few hours on the trail.
📍 Meeting Point: Edale Station car park at 8:50am (train arrivals are welcome too – the station is right at the start).
