The bass is more than just the backbone of the band—it’s the heartbeat, the soul, and sometimes, the songwriter. In this after-hours homage, Hudson-based bassist Tristen Jarvis shines a spotlight on a rich lineage of bassist-composers—from jazz giants like Charles Mingus, Oscar Pettiford, and Scott LaFaro to electric innovators like Jaco Pastorius, Thundercat, and Paul McCartney, all the way to today’s crop of talented bass visionaries like Endea Owens and Dezron Douglas.
