Join The Garden Theatre on Sunday, August 10th at Winnie's for our season kickoff event, celebrating FIVE years of creating theatre in Houston. The singing begins at 6pm on the patio, and admission is FREE! Winnie's has a full bar and food menu available.
Hosting this event are Garden Theatre favorites and Houston's own Double Divas: Ronna Mansfield (The Beltfest, Into The Woods, Louder Than Words) and Sloane Teagle (White Rabbit Red Rabbit, Who's Holiday!, Rhythm of Life). Joining out hosts are returning Garden Theatre artists Efren Calderon (Cruel Intentions), Brandon Collins (Assassins, Rhythm of Life), Jackie Cortina (Cruel Intentions, Bonnie & Clyde), Daniel Edwards (New Beginnings, White Rabbit Red Rabbit, Cruel Intentions, Louder Than Words, Reefer Madness), Julianne McBride (Cruel Intentions), and Wendy Taylor (The Beltfest).
ABOUT THE GARDEN THEATRE
The Garden Theatre was founded in 2021 by Founding Artistic Director, Logan Vaden. Logan saw the need for a space for his friends and colleagues who are often labeled as “semi-professionals.” He heard this group lament numerous times that there just wasn’t enough work in Houston to keep them busy in theatre. They longed for a space that felt like a community where they could continuously create art while entertaining their beloved Houston audience. With the knowledge that these artists are, indeed, some of the most talented in town, he decided then and there to create such a space.
The theatre opened in April, 2021 with New Beginnings, a musical theatre cabaret that was staged outdoors and streamed online. This first venture won the BroadwayWorld Award for Best Streamed Concert/Cabaret. The theatre's first full production, Into The Woods, opened in October of 2021. Since the first season, The Garden Theatre has gone on to produce over 20 productions and has received acclaim from audiences and critics alike, cementing the organization as one of the go-to theatre companies in Houston.
