Welcome to gastrochurch. We do intentional conversations about spiritual things over really good food. We set a table and invite people from any background, culture, worldview, and identity. It's kind of a mashup between a dinner party and a small group, only with people you might otherwise never meet.

Here's how it works: when you show up, grab a drink - your choice, a glass of water, tea or one of our other fun non-alcoholic beverages. You'll sit at a table of six with people you may or may not know. Over the course of the evening, we'll give you three questions, meant to get you talking about something more substantive than the weather. You spend about 90 minutes eating, drinking, talking, laughing, connecting, and potentially meeting your new best friend. And then you go home and tell everyone how awesome it was and how you can't wait to come to the next gathering.

Houston is renowned as a vibrant food city with a diverse culinary scene, boasting over 10,000 restaurants offering cuisine from 70+ countries and American regions, and has been recognized as a top food city by various publications. Within every neighborhood, there are hundreds of stories waiting to be told and tasted. In an effort to help get to know our neighbors better and learn the stories behind their hospitality practices and the origin of the recipes that make them great, we are hosting a variety of gastrochurch experiences at local restaurants here in Houston this year.

Join us at Craft Pita, in the heart of Briargrove/Tanglewood for a look behind the scenes at Raffi Nasr's beloved mediterranean restaurant and the recipes and stories that started it all, a chance to meet your neighbors and enjoy some meaningful conversation about stuff that matters. Price of ticket includes 3 courses (appetizer, entree, dessert) and non-alcoholic drink. Beer and wine will be available for separate purchase.
