Ezra Charles and the Works In-Store Performance

Ezra Charles is a sixty-year veteran of the Houston music scene, making his mark in different genres over the decades. Moving through the British Invasion style of the Sixties, into rockabilly in the Eighties, to Swing in the Nineties, to Blues in the 2000s, he has consistently added to his body of original work while keeping his own stamp on his styles.

His reputation as a piano player is documented by winning the Houston Press Readers’ Poll six different years between 1989 and 2013. His prowess as an arranger colored the horn sections in his live bands and on his ten albums released over the years. His vocal stylings remind the listener that he is a Texan through and through. Ezra’s songwriting combines stories and events of the Gulf Coast with heartfelt emotions experienced during his colorful, interesting life.

During the pandemic, he penned his autobiography “Backstories,” providing a look into his unique accomplishments. His newly released vinyl LP “Ezra Charles: The Collected Works” allows his fans to relive the excitement of the best of his music in full, warm tones only vinyl records can supply to the listener.
