Join us for a night of wine and delicious bites at the historic Milford House! With guest speaker Gabriele Chiocca of Mexcor International Wines & Spirits, we'll explore the influence of terroir on the Grenache grape varietal. Known in Spain as Garnacha and in Italy as Cannonau, it is one of the most widely grown grape varietals in the world and presents strikingly different characteristics depending on its environment.
Cannonau has thrived on the Italian island of Sardinia for centuries in isolation, though DNA analysis shows that it is genetically identical to its Spanish and French counterparts. Experts think the grape arrived to Italy in the 14th century when the Kingdom of Aragon conquered Sardinia.

For those of you who know and love our Aperitivo Italiano series, this comparative tasting will follow the same format. We'll go back to our regularly scheduled Aperitivi Italiani with 100% Italian wine in the fall.

About the presenter
Gabriele "Gabe" Chiocca was born in Sarzana, a small town in Liguria, Italy. He graduated from LSU with a B.A. in Art History and worked at Continental Airlines as an International Flight Attendant for two years before becoming a wine specialist at RNDC Fine Wines. With more than 15 years of experience in the wine industry, Gabe now works as an international sales consultant at Mexcor International Wine & Spirits.
