The Summer 2025 BJCP Class will be held at The Houston Saengerbund Bierkeller - 1703 Heights Blvd., Houston, TX 77008
Class schedule is listed below.
The sessions will start at 1:00 p.m. lasting until 4:00 p.m. (more or less).
Cost for the class will be $100.00 (a one time fee, not every class).
The fee provides beer for class, a Siebel off-flavor kit, cups, ice and a few copies.
Class size is limited to 30 people.
You are not signing up for the Exam by attending this class.
If you can't attend every class, that's fine, but classes 1 & 2 are VERY important classes, as they cover judging processes and beer flaws, which are essential throughout the rest of the course. If you miss them, you’re going to be a little lost when it comes to filling out scoresheets and discerning beer flaws.

The primary goal of this BJCP class is to familiarize you with the process of judging beer, the flaws you may encounter during judging, understanding the differences between adjacent styles and how to properly fill out a BJCP Scoresheet. The secondary goal is to familiarize you with a broad range of BJCP beer styles, their rationale and basis in history, and the difference between adjacent styles. The third goal is to improve your ability to discern between different flavors while accurately describing them.
What I do NOT cover is the BJCP Online Entrance Exam, which is a prerequisite to taking the Judging Exam. The BJCP Judging Exam is in October. If you’re interested in the Exam, you’ll need to get on that list by e-mailing me. There are only 12 seats for the Judging exam.
