Nature detectives walk at Smithills Estate

Do you have some curious young people who love to learn about wildlife? Want to learn how to turn your family adventures into wildlife hunts?

Join the Smithills Estate team and local conservationist Russ Hedley for an interactive wildlife hunt. Learn more about wildlife under your feet and create your own nature stick ready to set off on your own adventures.

Terrain: Some steep inclines. off-road buggy/prams.

Further information:

• This walk will be cancelled if there is severe weather. Please check your emails on the day/morning before the walk
• Ensure you come in weather-appropriate clothes and footwear.
• KS1 and KS2 level, flexible tasks depending on attendees. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Dogs on short leads are welcome.
• This walk is approx. 2 hours, ~2km and is partly on footpaths and partly on uneven ground. It will be at a gentle pace, stopping frequently with some challenging inclines. This walk is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
• Please bring refreshments.
• Walker Fold can have poor phone signal, please plan your route ahead of time.
• Please make the Woodland Trust team aware of any medical issues before the start of the walk, e.g. asthma, diabetes, etc
• Walker Fold car park has 60 spaces and is free but donations are welcome via our solar-powered car park machine.
• Limited spaces are available for our events, if you can no longer make it, we appreciate you letting us know.
