This is a self lead stargazing experience where you will hopefully get the chance to enjoy the clear dark skies in the Yorkshire Dales National Park which has been officially granted the status of an ‘International Dark Sky Reserve’, making this area one of the best places in the world to view the skies above. Stargazing around the new Moon is the best time to stargaze as the skies are nice and dark.
The Perseid (Per-see-id) meteor shower is one of the most dramatic things to see in the night sky between July and August, and is a highlights of many meteor hunters’ calendars due to its high hourly rate and bright meteors.
In 2025 the Perseid meteor shower is active between 17 July and 24 August. The shower will peak 12 August.
