It is time to get Fire Smart! In addition to the Mendocino Kids Fire Smart project and in collaboration with Hopland Research and Extension Center, we are pleased to offer this FREE event to Mendocino County families and residents. Join us to learn about one of the most effective wildfire mitigation efforts: Grazing!
This event will include a presentation for Hopland Research and Extension Center (HREC) Director John T. Bailey, where we will explore how useful grazing has been to HREC for wildfire resilience. We will also have an opportunity to explore the grazing animals, the fiber produced from the sheep, and a short hike to learn about California fire adapted species of plants. Attendees are also invited to picnic at the beautiful HREC after the event has concluded!
Info: Hear about the wonders of grazing from Hopland Research and Extension Center Director John T. Bailey! We will get a first hand look at the grazing animals and also see the difference grazing makes to the landscape.
Info: Free time to do the activity of your choosing! We will have fiber and wool available to explore and create with. There will also be a short hike to observe fire adapted species of plants native to California.
Also check out other Trips & Adventurous Activities in Hopland, Kids events & activities in Hopland.
