Join us for an exciting and immersive two-day screen printing workshop where young artists dive into the bold and expressive world of printmaking! This hands-on camp introduces students to a variety of printmaking techniques—starting with warm-up projects like stamp carving and stencil printing—before they move on to design and screen print their very own t-shirt.
Throughout the camp, students will be encouraged to explore their individual creativity, experiment with design and composition, and express themselves through color, pattern, and imagery. While building essential screen printing skills, they'll also learn how to safely use cutting tools like X-Acto knives under guided supervision, giving them confidence with new materials in a supportive environment.
By the end of the camp, students will take home a collection of original prints, a hand carved stamp, and a wearable masterpiece of their own design!
This camp is perfect for curious, creative tweens and teens who love making things with their hands and want to try something new. No prior experience necessary—just a willingness to explore, experiment, and get a little inky!
This class will be held in The Makery at Roots School on July 16 and 17 from 1:00-4:00. Students should pack a water bottle, snack, and weather appropriate clothing. Camps will take place in The Makery room and also outdoors on the Roots School property. ***Participants will need to bring a blank cotton t shirt to print on. *** Extras will be provided (example of extras include canvas bag, tea towel, poster, or notecards).
Our summer camp teacher will be Cameron. She has been working with children for the past fifteen years. She taught public high school art and ceramics for ten years before embarking on the adventure of a lifetime in being a full time stay at home Mama to her two children. She loves creating whatever she can in her spare time and loves teaching art to others!
