We invite you to a special panel discussion as we continue to express our deepest gratitude to Mary Kawena Pukui, our hero of cultural preservation. Gather with us for this Nānā i ke Kumu Series program on Saturday, September 27, presented in partnership with the Mary Kawena Pukui Cultural Preservation Society.
Panelists include kumu hula and historian Nathan Nāpōkā, Dr. Noenoe Silva, Nanea Armstrong-Wassel, and ʻIolani Kamauoha.
Our esteemed panel will share reflections on the relationship between their contemporary work and Pukui’s legacy, weaving together stories of her life, tireless work, and her monumental contributions to the ʻike cared for in Bishop Museum’s Library & Archives, ensuring it will be carried forward by new generations.
