A Night at the Paris Opera Ballet

HoMA and @ballethawaii collaborate to bring the Paris Opera Ballet to the Doris Duke Theatre stage on Sept 5 and 6 for a one-of-a-kind performance featuring original choreography inspired by “Mary Cassatt at Work” and the music of such composers as Germaine Tailleferre, Cécile Chaminade, Natalie Boulanger, and Erik Satie.

The program draws on the Belle Époque—a vibrant period for the arts when Mary Cassatt and fellow Impressionists like Edgar Degas found inspiration at the ballet, opera, and theater. See how movement, music, and art come together in this 45-minute performance, followed by a short conversation on Impressionist art and ballet in 19th-century Paris.
