Did you know that an estimated 70% of adults worldwide have experienced some form of trauma? As yoga teachers, we have the opportunity—and responsibility—to create spaces that encourage safety, empowerment, and healing.
Join Yoga 4 Change and Yoga 1 for a 20-hour Trauma-Informed Yoga Certification, designed for yoga instructors and anyone in the community looking to deepen their understanding of trauma and integrate trauma-sensitive principles into their life and teachings.
Training Format
• 4 pre-recorded hours to be completed the week before the training
• 16 contact hours of in-person learning
Contact hours will be:
Friday June 27 from 5-9pm
Saturday June 28 from 12:30-6:30pm
Sunday June 29 from 12:30-6:30pm
This training will provide a strong foundation in trauma education, including:
• The neuroscience and physiological impacts of trauma on the brain and body
• Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs)
• Adverse Community Environments and their role in trauma
• Research on yoga and mindfulness as evidence-based interventions
Through lecture, discussion, and experiential practice, you’ll learn how to offer breathwork, meditation, and asana to support trauma survivors while maintaining the integrity of a yoga class. We'll also explore which common yoga practices can be unsupportive or even harmful for students with trauma histories.
Additionally, this training will address the risks of secondary trauma for yoga teachers and provide tools for self-care and resilience, helping you sustain your teaching practice with compassion and longevity.
