Foundation Training, August 7-9

Over three days of intensive instruction, boys will learn skills essential to capable leadership in the outdoors; they will engage in a variety of physical exercises and scenarios that test their physical abilities and determination while providing experience in making decisions in a variety of leadership roles. This is a camp that invites young men to become more capable and confident and to place those attributes in service of those around them.

Campers will:

• Engage in dynamic field fitness challenges
• Learn to build fires with flint and steel
• Learn to read topographical maps, measure distance, and navigate with a compass.
• Plot points using the MGRS navigational system
• Assist in cooking field meals with staff
• Complete land navigation courses in the bush
• Tie essential field utility and safety knots
• Conduct basic triage and administer emergency first aid in the field
• Serve in a variety of leardership roles and receive coaching and performance feedback

Thursday, August 7:

• 8:30-9:00am Drop off (campers should have eaten breakfast before drop off)
• Please be punctual as camp staff will be present to check in with campers and parents at drop off
• If your camper has any medical conditions staff should know about please describe when registering and bring any medications or supplements with you to drop off.

Saturday, August 9:

• 4:30pm Pick up. Campers will be ready for some home cooking and a shower!
