Taize Candlelight Service

The Taize style of worship comes from the French ecumenical community of the same name. It is a contemplative liturgy incorporating sung chants, scripture, prayer, and silence. This Advent we will hold a Taize prayer service focusing on our prayer for peace in our world and welcome for migrants and refugees. Incorporated into the service will be the "Peace Light", a flame that originates from a continuous light at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Attendees will have the opportunity to take home a special candle bearing the flame from the peace light if they wish. The service will begin at 6:00 pm and will conclude with a light social. The event takes place at the St. Ignatius Chapel on the campus of the University of Detroit Mercy. The St. Ignatius Chapel is located in the Commerce and Finance Building on the UDM main campus at 4001 W. McNichols Road. Maps will be made available at the parish. All are welcome.
