Herne Bay Jazz and The King's Hall are honoured to present Roberto Pla’s Big Band Latino – A Celebration of Latin Jazz Excellence.
Roberto Pla, widely regarded as the godfather of Latin music in the UK, brings decades of experience and passion to the helm, drawing on his rich heritage and collaborations with stars like Carlos Santana, Kate Bush, and the Buena Vista Social Club. Columbian percussion master Roberto Pla's contributions have been recognized with two LUKAS (Latin UK Awards): one for 'Lifetime Achievement and Contribution to the Latino Community in the UK' in 2012, and another for 'Concert of the Year' in 2014.
A dynamic 20-piece ensemble that brings the vibrant spirit of Latin America to life through high-energy jazz and infectious rhythms, the band fuses Afro-Cuban, salsa, mambo, and contemporary jazz into a spectacular live experience.
Renowned for their tight arrangements and dynamic stage presence, Big Band Latino has graced major stages across Europe, including Glastonbury Festival's 'Glasto Latino Stage', the Royal Albert Hall, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, and the Barbican Centre in London. Their performances have also been featured at the Brecon Jazz Festival, Expo Festival Lisbon, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
