The Great Pomme de Terre Duck Derby

The Duck Derby is a race of pre-paid ducks dropped in the Pomme de Terre Dam Outlet. Anyone can purchase an Adopt A Duck ticket. These tickets have the number of a little rubber duck. Over 2,000 numbered ducks are dropped in the Outlet and float the river. They are funneled to a winners area where the first three ducks to reach the finish line win. Those with the corresponding tickets win a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the Adopt a Duck tickets:

50% of the proceeds goes to the Fireworks Fund
50% of the proceeds are split between 3 winners:

1st place = 30%
2nd place = 15%
3rd place = 5%

Business members of the Pomme de Terre Chamber of Commerce can purchase a larger duck to race just prior to the Duck Derby. Winner of the Business Duck Race receives half the proceeds of the large duck sales.
