Kapamilya: Banig Drawing Workshop

Celebrate heritage and creativity in this hands-on art workshop inspired by the banig—a traditional Filipino handwoven mat known for its vibrant, geometric patterns and deep cultural roots.

Led by Kenneth Tan of the Lola x Kenneth Collection, the workshop will begin with a short talk on the history and artistry of banigs. Then, you'll learn how to draw classic banig patterns before being guided to design your own modern interpretation.

At the end of the workshop, your one-of-a kind artwork will be matted—a simple but beautiful way to elevate your piece and make it display-ready (while supplies last - if matting is not important to you, please leave it for someone else!).

No prior art experience needed—just curiosity, inspiration, and a love for cultural storytelling.

This program is in honor of Filipino American History Month and is sponsored by the Friends of the Hercules Library.
