Have you ever heard of an owl pellet? Owl pellets are a compact bundle of fur, feathers, and tiny bones that owls regurgitate after digesting their prey. That's right, we're talking (heat sanitized for safe dissection) OWL PUKE! Each pellet is like a miniature time capsule, revealing exactly what the owl ate and offering clues about its role in the ecosystem.
In this hands-on class at Corkscrew Curiosities, presented in partnership with Wesselman Woods, you’ll receive your own owl pellet to carefully dissect. As you gently pull the pellet apart, you’ll uncover delicate bones, which you’ll clean and place in your own small corked glass bottle to take home and display. Along the way, naturalists from Wesselman Woods will share engaging stories and fascinating facts about owls, their hunting habits, and the vital part they play in nature. This unique experience is equal parts science, curiosity, and a little bit of mystery.
This event is open to participants 10 years and older - minor participants must be accompanied by a ticket carrying adult guardian aged 18 or older.
