Lets take the day and explore both Helsingborg and Helsingör in one day and get the most out of saturday through enjoying these two cities together, as they are both very close to each other.
Plan is that we meet at 10.00 outside of Pressbyrån kiosk at Helsingborg Central station (Knutpunkten) and continue our exploration from there.
The trains between Malmö Central station and Helsingborg Central station are going regularly, the most efficient would be taking the Öresundståget which will take 40 min. If you are coming from another city there should be alternatives as well traveling with Skånetrafiken.

The idea is that we start warming up for the rest the day with a drink, snacks or food at Espresso house close to the harbor.
Later on we will continue towards Gröningen which has the most popular seaside walking path in Helsingborg, with a really beautiful seaview to enjoy. We can have some walk there, and after some time we can have a sit somewhere, relax and enjoy the view. There will be some kiosks alongside the walking path if you want to have something drink or eat.
After this the plan is to move towards the Ferry terminal which will have ferries going to and from Helsingör.

After our excursion in Helsingborg we will go towards the Ferry terminal in Helsingborg and buy our ferry tickets to Helsingör (approx. 140 kr for roundtrip ticket). The ferries are expected to go each 30-40 minutes and throughout all day, and it will take around 15 minutes to get to Helsingör.
Once we reach Helsingör the idea is that we walk towards the Kronborg castle, which is known for the Shakespeare's play Hamlet. Here we can freely roam around and do some sightseeing and enjoy both the castle and the surrounding area.
After the castle visit, the plan is to head towards the city center of Helsingör and enjoy some nice food. There are many options to choose from, for example Cafe Kaiser which should have good food alternatives
Finally we will move to the Ferry terminal in Helsingör to take the ferry back to Helsingborg terminal, which is just a short distance from Helsingborg Central station for returning back home.

The whole trip is expected to take roughly 6-8 hours to complete and expect that we will be done with everything latest at around 18.00, which is the expected time to be back in Helsingborg after Helsingör.
