Join us for a fun, beginner-friendly class where you’ll learn how to make your very own sourdough starter from scratch!
Led by Italian chef and founder of The Sourdough Science Academy, Roberto Giammellucca, this hands-on session is designed to help you understand the basics of sourdough fermentation, its health benefits, and how to care for your starter using a simple method that doesn’t require daily feeding.

Mix your own sourdough starter in class using organic flour

A: Not at all! This class is perfect for absolute beginners. We’ll guide you step by step through the process of starting your sourdough journey.
Q: What do I need to bring to the class?
A: Please bring one clean jar (around 300–400ml) with a lid. That’s it! We’ll provide the organic flour and everything else you need for the activity.
Q: What if I forget to bring a jar?
A: No problem—starter jars will be available to purchase in class along with other optional tools and kits.
Q: Will I be baking bread in this class?
A: No, this class focuses on the first step of the sourdough process—creating your starter. We’ll cover everything you need to know about fermentation, caring for your starter, and getting ready to bake at home.
Q: Is this class hands-on or just a demonstration?
A: It’s a mix! You’ll be guided step-by-step in making your own sourdough starter during the session, but we won’t be baking bread. There will also be theory and Q&A time.
Q: Can I buy flour, starter kits, or tools in class?
A: Yes! We’ll have a variety of organic flours, feeding flour, starter jars, and complete kits available for purchase on the day.
Q: I’ve already done your full workshop—should I still come?
A: If you've already completed the full workshop, you likely don’t need this class. But we’d love if you could share it with family and friends who might benefit from a more accessible starting point.
