STCW Medical First aid

The aim of the training is to give all persons intending to go to sea a basic knowledge of the immediate action to be taken upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency aboard ship.

Subjects include;

Basic anatomy and physiology
Primary assessment
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Wound care and bleeding control
Burns and scalds
Fractures and dislocations
Shock and unconsciousness
Medical emergencies
Use of medical equipment and supplies
Communication with medical professionals
