A FREE community yoga class series provided by the Hector Pert Memorial Library. This class will focus on gentle movement, maintaining strength and mobility, and breath as a tool for well-being. Accessible for beginner students with modifications offered and props introduced to support varying levels of ability. Are you a long-time practitioner? Join us for a refresh and learn about a system of alignment principles that may support your practice for years to come. Taught by Hilary Kellner-Davis at the Hector Library and Fire Hall.
There will be 6 yoga mats and a few extra props available for anyone who doesn’t have their own.
Please bring a blanket and blocks if you have them to make your practice more comfortable!
Feb 14 - Beginning Again
What is our relationship to repetition and can the concept of Cycles relax our approach to starting over? Many sun salutation variations and 1 new mobility flow to build on through the coming weeks.
1st Principle: Open to Grace
Feb 21 - The Window of Tolerance
Can we make it bigger while still maintaining boundaries?
2nd and 5th Principles: Balanced Action between Muscle and Organic Energy

March 7 - Safe and Sound
Stability and stretching with an introduction to the idea of “nerve flossing”
3rd and 4th principles Principles: Inner and Outer Spiral
March 14 - Remembrance
Going back to the beginning with Shoulder Care - reenforce spinal curves and tend to the shoulders as they relate to back pain and chest collapse.
Principle: Shoulder Loop
March 21 - Prevention is Radical
A prop heavy class where we encourage our minds to access care before we’re acutely injured or sick. Blocks, blocks, blocks!
Principle: Open to Grace
March 28 - Strength but not the “Fix Me” Kind
Access physical power through breath and a focus on the foundation (feet) in our standing poses
Hilary Bio:
Hilary Kellner-Davis has been teaching yoga for 15 years. She emphasizes the use of body mechanics and alignment principles to support a heartfelt liberating practice. Hilary encourages the use of blocks, blankets, straps and bolsters to access growth and to remember that on the edge of limitation lies possibility.
