Swim For Isabelle
2025 has been a really tough year for 11 year old WSSC Haverhill swimmer Isabelle, brother Isaac and their parents. In April, Isabelle was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right leg. Osteosarcoma is a form of bone cancer and since her diagnosis, Isabelle has endured a number of rounds of chemotherapy and a long and complicated surgery to partially replace the bones in her leg with prosthetics that should grow with her. With rehabilitation and physiotherapy, it is hoped that she will be able to walk on her new leg, but talented triathlete Isabelle will be unable to run and will instead need a specialist wheelchair and adapted bike to help her achieve her dream of representing GB in this sport.

WSSC is hosting a sponsored swim at Haverhill Leisure Centre in conjunction with Abbeycroft Leisure and WaldenTRI on Sunday 5th October from 3pm to 6pm to raise funds for the specialist equipment that Isabelle will need. You can sign up to swim 400m, 800m or 1 mile (64 lengths!). There’s a £5 entry fee which includes a special event hat (while stocks last), with any excess monies raised going direct to Isabelle’s GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/hope-for-isabelle
