This will be a fun day but with the purpose of raising awareness of the plight of waders and their conservation.
All we have to do is watch waders or shorebirds (suborder Charadrii), then tell Wader Quest what we saw.
No expert bird knowledge needed. All welcome. Wader Conservation World Watch is an annual event highlighting waders and the problems they are facing around the world. But it’s also a “Fun way to say ‘Thank You’ to everyone involved in wader conservation and for participants to say “I Care” about what is happening to the world’s waders”- Rick Simpson – Chair of the charity Wader Quest which works to support wader conservation.
Meet: The Ship pub car park, Langstone Rd, PO9 1RD (just before Langstone Bridge onto Hayling Island). Public toilets.
Next stop Oyster Beds (1 mile away) and then on to Farlington Marshes for the afternoon. (nearest postcode PO6 1UN is for Holiday InnExpresson opposite side of the roundabout). Car park entrance is on waterfront, between A27 westbound exit and A2030 exit to Portsmouth seafront.
We will not walk the whole 2½ mile sea wall path at Farlington just look at the main lake and harbour.
Also check out other Nonprofit events in Havant.
