Spend the day with two expert growers from - a Hastings project set up to support and celebrate food growing in and around our town.

Town Grown’s own Anna Lock and Vicki Cooke will be blending horticulture and permaculture principles and drawing on years of hands-on experience in food cultivation.

ANNA LOCKE has worked for over 20 years as a community gardener, across many different types of edible garden projects. She is a permaculture consultant, designer, author and a local farmer. Her overall aim is to empower others to plant more food and make delicious things to eat.

VICKI COOKE has worked as an organic vegetable grower for over a decade. This has included growing heirloom vegetables for seed for the Heritage Seed Library, to running a one acre walled kitchen garden at Hampton Court Palace. Outside of work she’s grown edibles on allotments, rooftops and windowsills and is a member of the RHS fruit, veg and herb committee.

Whether you have a large plot or just a window box, this course will cover everything you need to plan and grow a diverse variety of interesting and nourishing crops:

  • Creating and maitaining healthy soil
  • The What, Where & When of sowing and planting
  • Companion and "guild" planting
  • How to increase biodiversity
  • Easy to grow edible flowers
  • Interesting vegetables
  • Organic and regenerative gardening practices

Tickets are £60 for the full day and include a light lunch and refreshments. Please advise us of any dietary requirements when you book your place.

We also have two reduced price places for low/unwaged attendees. Get in touch for more info at Z3JvdyB8IHRvd25ncm93biAhIGNvICEgdWs=
