Save the Date! Pumpkin Compost Collection

Conservation Nebraska and Smart Soil heard your voices loud and clear! We will be providing another Pumpkin Composting Collection this fall for the City of Hastings!

Did you know that more than 1 billion pumpkins get thrown away and end up in U.S. landfills each year? When organic waste decomposes in the landfill, it starts to release methane - a
greenhouse gas that has a warming effect 20 times stronger than carbon dioxide!

Join Conservation Nebraska and Smart Soil to properly dispose of your leftover holiday décor and pumpkin carvings by having it turned into compost! Collection bins will be available November 1st & 2nd and November 29th & 30th from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. in the following location: Aqua Court – 2200 W 3rd St., Hastings, NE, 68901.

Pumpkins are not allowed to have extra materials such as lights, candles, and batteries. No leaves, sticks, or other yard waste will be accepted.
