ROSIE BROWN
It’s more than two decades since Rosie began her song-writing adventures. Recognised as a major talent from the start, her seductive vocals and quirkily crafted lyrics found a natural home alongside Bernd’s intriguing musical arrangements and brilliant guitar work.
Today, Rosie Brown is a collective, with Rosie and Bernd at its core, Simon adding uniquely artful bass and third vocal harmonies, and Paul drumming subtle energy into the music. The sweet horn-playing of Robin Hopcraft and Markus Marageter’s funky keyboard sounds embellish studio and live recordings.
Weaving folk, jazz and blues influences, with glimpses of Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake and vintage John Martyn, the band expresses a musical sensibility all of its own. Drawing on country, 60s surf and classical, this is beguiling and intricate music, filmic and funky, full of emotion. Songs with surfaces light and shimmering, evocative of landscape, love, loss, darkness and light.
