About the event

Greater Hartford County Comes Together in Unity
NOT JUST US will be hosting a Unity event at Immanuel Congregational church. We invite all to come together to learn what resources are available in the community, for people of diversity, students and their families of color, diverse faiths, disabilities, foster and adoptive, indigenous and lower socioeconomic incomes, and all others to come together in a time of dignity, respect, and self worth being taken away, along with legal rights. We will send out a message that when one group of individuals is under attack then no one is safe. We will send out a message, and build, community cares for all people. We will have leaders who will be talking about what they are doing in their communities and how we can all help. We will build community with people who are in the movement to help others. We all need each other to ensure no one is left behind. The speakers present are from the community, across the Greater Hartford community, and across the state. I founded the NOT JUST US group because when loved ones ask what did I do when the legal and other rights of my family members, and friends, were under attack, what did I do to help others, I will be able to respond. What will you say?

Please know this is a safe place to explore how you will be able to respond to the government’s intrusion into our lives which cause pain for so many. NOT JUST US’s name comes from the fact the hurt and pain others are feeling does not just directed at a few. The issues impact NOT JUST US but Everyone.

This is a scary time where certain people are celebrating the taking away of legal rights and division amongst neighbors and friends. Needed resources for vulnerable students and families are being taken away. Certain leaders are working to end democracy and set themselves up as kings and authoritarian leaders at the expense of those less vulnerable. We will counter that message by coming together and learning about the good work being done within our communities and how we can help others with our actions.

Please be aware this event is non partisan, invites individuals of all faiths (or non faiths), and welcomes leaders and individuals who have a desire to ensure no individual falls through the cracks created by those who do not want others to be invited to, much less have an active participant role, the table of decision making.

United we stand but divided we fall. Let’s unite to ensure hostilities end and love, inclusion, unity and justice overcomes across Greater Hartford and the state of Connecticut. Let’s hear from others about good work being done across the Greater Hartford communities, as well as across the state of Connecticut. Let’s learn what work is being done and how we may be able to become involved in helping our fellow community members.
