Knaresborough Crag Rat Run 2025

A 5 mile mixed terrain run around the southern fringes of Knaresborough encircling the River Nidd

The race takes its name from the term for a person born in Knaresborough - a Crag Rat.

The course is suitable for all ability levels whether affilliated to a running club or not.

The route starts at Knaresborough Cricket Club and takes runners along trails descending the crag to a tarmaced section alongside the River Nidd. Mixed terrain leads to a trail through woodland before a fast tarmaced section returns runners to a narrow path adjacent to the river. Crossing the bridge near the Petrifying Well, there is a further riverside section before ascending back up the crag towards the finish line. Approximately half of the race is on tarmac.
