Silent Worship in Loving Memory of Sheila Bach

DESCRIPTION: PLease join us in person or in spirit to honor Sheila Bach’s life and legacy, remember the generosity and compassion of Henry and Mary Cushing Niles, and fill the Space for Solace with Light and Love. We will hold silent worship at the new Space for Solace in loving memory of Sheila. Afterward, we will retire to the meadow at the Niles Cabin for light refreshments.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Additional chairs are welcome if you have light folding or bag chairs available. Please dress for the weather, consider an umbrella if showers are forecast. Similarly, prepare for sun and insects.

BACKGROUND: Last Spring, Friends Wilderness Center (FWC) felt a strong leading to define a contemplative space and offer the embrace of nature to those processing deep emotional experiences. We could not have anticipated how poignantly and personally the need would expand. Amid the broader concerns in our nation and our world, Sheila Bach, the long-time general manager and soul of this place, passed away peacefully in December, 2024. For decades, Sheila inspired visitors to invest their Light in this mountain. In her memory, please come and integrate your spirit into the Space for Solace.
