Victory in Europe 80th Anniversary Celebration

The 8th May this year marks 80 years since Victory in Europe was declared. In Sawbridgeworth, we are marking this special day with a series of events, including a free exhibition at the town council offices hosted by Sawbridgeworth Local History Society from 6th to 9th May, raising of V E Day flags across the town, laying of wreaths at RAF Sawbridgeworth and the War Memorial at Great St Marys Church, a special lunch at the Hailey Centre, bell ringing at Great St Marys Church, an evening event in Bell Street Car Park with live entertainment, games, fun, and food, and a beacon lighting and mass singing of 'I Vow to Thee My Country' at 9:30pm. The Mayor of Sawbridgeworth and his invited guests will enjoy the food and have the opportunity to view the exhibition. Please attend and share this important moment in history.
