Join us for a rare opportunity to learn the traditional art of porcupine quill box-making from Anishinaabe artists Yvonne Walker Keshick and her daughter, Odeimin Gèsis Walker Keshick.
In each two-day, hands-on workshop, students will be guided through every step of creating a 3-inch quill box, from preparing natural materials to assembling and decorating their finished piece.
Participants will work with materials including sweetgrass, birch bark, and porcupine quills, as well as the specialized tools used in quillwork. Yvonne and Odeimin will share not only the technical skills but also the stories, traditions, and symbolism behind this centuries-old art form.
This workshop is designed for all skill levels—whether you are completely new to quill work or have prior experience. By the end of second day, you will leave with your own completed quill box and a deeper appreciation for the artistry involved.
All materials are provided. Lunch is “bring your own.” Limited spots available.
