Ballroom Vietnam is excited host Hanoi’s first kiki ball coming August 16! This kiki ball is a fun and friendly ball for trans/queer youth to experience ballroom and discover, express themselves. Prepare to see beautiful faces, artistic and elegant fashion, and voguers storm the runway to earn their 10s and battle it out for the grand prizes!
What is Ballroom?
Ballroom was founded by black/brown transwomen in New York City in the 1970s. Its main event - ball - is a competition where contestants would compete in various categories, ranging from beauty (face, body), fashion (best dressed, bizarre, labels), to dancing (voguing), gender performance (realness, f@g out).
Today Ballroom is an international LGBTQIA+ subculture that is currently trending on TikTok and Instagram. Yet Ballroom still holds its core values of continuing to support and uplift the trans/queer community.
