On Saturday, August 2, our feature act will be Darling Hill! New England singer-songwriter duo Katherine Schimke and Aaron Derman have been performing in the local NH music scene for 10 years. They have collaborated with numerous venues, art organizations, and artists.
Darling Hill evokes a sense of nostalgia, blending dramatic '80s synth influences with '90s folk grunge. It is raw, enchanting, and filled with poetry that offers a fresh perspective on the world. Distinct vocals are paired with captivating melodies that embody the essence of fantasy and reality.
Darling Hill's 2023 debut EP, Where the Heart Heals, was produced by Zach Kasik of Wild Feather Recording Studio (Beck, Green Day, Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones, Dr. Dre). The EP features contributions from some of Nashville's most talented musicians. Notable collaborations on this project include sought-after percussionist Shake E Fowlkes (Chris Night, Robert Bradley's Black Water Surprise, Kid Rock), Broadway violinist Laurie Canaan (Ring of Fire), versatile bassist Doug Corbin, and acclaimed vocalist Kalen Chase (Korn, Vimic, Pop Evil, Dragonforce).
Since its debut, tracks from the EP hit the airwaves and have been featured on 92.5’s The River and 95.3’s WMNH.
