About this Event

Summer Reading | Section 1 | Mayday, Mayday

School's almost out & we're ready to go barefoot down the street of a good time

Summer Reading Series, curated & hosted by Amelia Gillis, is a night of poetry.

A good time, the first of many.

Here are the Poets:

Cheyenne Wallace lives in Hamtramck and started loving poetry three years ago.

Breayne Riddle is a Detroit-based mother, writer and self-proclaimed cat person. She loves dissociating and talkin' shit. She's had work published in Reed Magazine and the South Loop Review.

Kels lives in Hamtramck with two angel cats. She wrote her first poem at 7 years old. Her writing has been featured in several collections.

Em Brill is a poet and artist visiting from New York, where she lives in a fifth floor walk up on the Lower East Side with her two grey cats. Her most recent chapbook, Arch Pastoral, investigates the spiritual properties of love, pain, and place, with poems pulled from her experiences living in New York, Los Angeles, and the rural Pine Barrens of New Jersey, where she grew up. She's slowly assembling her first full-length poetry collection, as well as a body of visual artwork about the emotional resonance of industrial objects. Her first published poem, "Mid-Atlantica,", appeared in Amelia Gillis and Angela Shier's The Mall magazine in 2014, and she's since published with Fence, Forever, Tiding House, Shitwonder, Sarka, Moral Crema, and others.

What I'm saying is, if you enjoy liminal words & have at least one cat you're obligated to come check it out.

Bc it's also free. Parking is free too. It's Sunday.
